GetWise intermediate

Our intermediate programme

At an intermediate level, our programme offers students and their teachers more advanced learning opportunities along with the inclusion of augmented reality (AR) technology and online learning capability.

One or two available workshops at these year levels build upon the tenets of the primary programme with a distinct future focus on planning, saving, and spending. From stepping through their first ‘Get What You Want Plan’ and leveraging their decision-making skills to compete in a ‘cash-clever’ quest to make their dream holiday a reality, or navigating their spending on a journey to a far away planet named Thutera with the use of augmented reality to bring the lesson to life. All students will be provided with a free 32-page comic book.

A freely available online learning platform also provides capacity for pre-workshop or post-workshop reinforcement alongside printable teacher resource activities and exercises.

Workshop 1

It’s holiday time! But before students head off on their dream holiday, they need to make a plan and try to stick to it before navigating the outcomes of their decisions. A great lesson in planning, decision making and comparative shopping all while considering how money works in getting the things that we need and want.

Concepts covered include:

  • Income and expenses
  • Budgeting: Making a plan to get what you want!
  • Spending money: Credit cards and dealing with debt
  • Making good decisions: Currency exchange, insurance and hidden costs

Workshop 2

A 45-minute face-to-face professionally facilitated workshop with augmented reality elements based on practical financial decision making and planning. Students consider the various influences of their spending before blasting off on a Star Shopper adventure into the far reaches of space. Students are provided with a free comic book.

Concepts covered include:

  • Making good decisions with money
  • Spending influences
  • Making a spending plan
  • Comparative shopping

Online modules

Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to become a secret agent on the trail of a notorious money hacker across eight online delivery modules and bring them to justice. Each module builds and reinforces learnings in a fun and accessible manner to promote positive learning of core financial literacy concepts. Teachers can also track student outcomes to support further required learning.

Concepts covered include:

  • Budgeting
  • Spending influences
  • Comparative shopping
  • Making good decisions with money

Our programmes and resources

Primary programme

Our primary programme supports schools and teachers with interactive resources and workshops for years 3-6. From delivering the basics of understanding the concept of money and its values, through to the effectiveness of introductory goal setting and earning money.

GetWise digital

ASB GetWise can now offer online accessibility for Year 7 and 8 students that are unable to take advantage of our face-to-face programme through both an online learning platform, and a downloadable augmented reality resource for learning at home.

Additional resources

All of our content is fully supported by teacher- and parent-based resource materials to promote ongoing learning in schools and at home. This section also provides promotional materials for newsletters, blogs, or social media posts to connect what is learnt to our communities and beyond.
