About ASB GetWise
Our story
At ASB we’ve been helping kids get one step ahead for over 100 years, with a long legacy in school banking and supporting the financial progress of the next generation of New Zealanders. In 2010 we launched ASB GetWise, a programme designed to inspire primary- and intermediate-aged students to be confident with money. We’re passionate about helping Kiwi kids learn important money management skills while they’re young. These skills will help set them up for a solid financial future and enable them to progress and achieve their goals. Ultimately, we want young people to benefit from good early decisions across a lifetime.
Impact evaluation shows that Getwise acts as a catalyst for change in the classroom, not only increasing student and teacher knowledge but also motivating students to learn more, creating a positive cycle of learning and teaching.
Not only does ASB GetWise provide a fully trained facilitator free of charge for content delivery, every booking also receives access to teacher resource packs with activities and further financial education lesson plans so that the learning can continue long after the session ends.
Our programmes and resources
Primary programme
Our primary programme supports schools and teachers with interactive resources and workshops for years 3-6. From delivering the basics of understanding the concept of money and its values, through to the effectiveness of introductory goal setting and earning money.
Intermediate programme
Our intermediate programme delivers two unique face-to-face workshop experiences on budgeting and smart spending concepts. One workshop includes the use of augmented reality technology and all classes gain access to a free online learning platform for further reinforcement of teaching concepts.
Register your school
ASB GetWise has facilitators based in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch, but they are committed to travelling to school communities across New Zealand.
We will be scheduling regional roadshows to areas outside the main metropolitan areas, so schools from Kaitaia to Invercargill will be able to book ASB GetWise facilitators to come to their school and present to their students.
