GetWise Workshop – Code of Conduct & Terms of Participation

Below sets out the GetWise’s Code of Conduct and Terms of Participation that apply to the GetWise programme both virtually and in person in the classroom. By hosting the GetWise programme at your school you agree to the requirements and expectations set out in the Code of Conduct and Terms of Participation.

Code of Conduct

For teachers and school staff

• The GetWise programme requires that a teacher or other appropriate staff member be in attendance for all workshops. The workshops will not proceed if a staff member is not present.

• The teacher or staff member in attendance will be actively engaged in the workshop, including monitoring chat channels, the participation, and the behaviour of students.

• By hosting the GetWise programme at your school you are confirming that all participants are currently enrolled as students at your school in New Zealand.

• Prior to the commencement of the workshops the teacher or school staff member will explain the following requirements with students and how these align with your classroom behaviour expectations and existing school rules.

For Students

• The facilitators are there to ensure everyone has a positive and safe experience and students are expected to follow all instructions that the GetWise facilitator provides.

• If students observe any inappropriate behaviour or material, they should highlight this to the teacher or the facilitator as soon as possible.

• Students should be made aware that all chat history is kept for two years after completion of a virtual workshop. These records can be provided to school staff and authorities when requested.

• Students who breach the Code of Conduct and Terms of Participation may be asked to leave or be removed from the workshop by the teacher or staff member.

If a teacher or staff member believes that a student may have breached the Code of Conduct or Terms of Participations should address this immediately in the workshop, in addition to any action required as set out in your school’s rules.

Terms of Participation

By participating in the classroom or virtual GetWise Workshops, you agree that you will comply with both the Code of Conduct and these Terms of Participation, and will not:

1. Use any content or imagery from the workshop to create, upload, transmit, distribute, or store any content that is inaccurate, unlawful, infringing, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, harassing, threatening, abusive, inflammatory, or otherwise objectionable;

2. Record or otherwise distribute any content from the GetWise Virtual Workshops including audio, visual, chat logs or user-generated content;

Impersonate any person or entity, falsely claim an affiliation with any person or entity, or access the accounts of others without permission, forge another person’s digital signature, misrepresent the source, identity, or content of information transmitted via the service, or perform any other similar fraudulent activity;

4. Make unsolicited offers, advertisements, proposals, or send junk mail or spam to users, including, without limitation, unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, or other solicitation material, bulk mailing of commercial advertising, chain mail, informational announcements, charity requests, petitions for signatures, or any of the preceding things related to promotional giveaways (such as raffles and contests), and other similar activities;
