The people at ASB recognise that they have a responsibility to help improve the financial literacy of New Zealanders. ASB has been providing school banking in the communities in which it operates since 1926 and already provides a range of education and literacy programmes for school children and financial help tools for New Zealanders to use.
Now ASB has developed GetWise, a new programme to assist New Zealand primary and intermediate schools to deliver financial literacy concepts to their students. We all know that students today are exposed to more complex financial situations and choices than ever before, and much earlier in life. So we need to make sure our kids are given the skills they need now to stay out of trouble, manage their money and handle everyday financial decisions.
GetWise courses are available at three primary school levels and the intermediate level. Not only does GetWise provide the facilitator free of charge, every school booking a GetWise programme will also receive a resource pack with activities and further financial education lesson plans, so the learning can continue long after the session ends.
GetWise has facilitators based in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch, but they are committed to traveling to school communities across New Zealand. They will be scheduling regional roadshows to areas outside the main metropolitan areas, so schools from Kaitaia to Invercargill will be able to book the GetWise facilitators to come to their school and present to their students. So wherever you are – get in touch today! We’re looking forward to visiting your school any time soon!
